Lets make art together!
STUDIOJANWILLEMVANRIEL works on various long-term projects in addition to Fine-Art storytelling and portraits. Because they cost a lot of time organizationally, to find others who believe in it or collaborations have to be sought or simply because they have to grow over time.
If you would like to participate in one of the projects, see opportunities or offer help on how to bring a project to a successful conclusion, I would like to hear from you. Working together is one of the 21st century skills: let’s make art together!
Let’s make art together, ‘The corona stills’
Lets make art together ‘NADIA’. Nadia sent me this. ‘In Islam, Jewish and Christianity the pomegranate stands for fertility, wealth and the beauty of life. The rich filling with ‘rubies’ tells us not only look at the outside but also marvel at all the beautiful things at the inside’. (2019)
Lets make art together ‘ANS’. Ans sent me the story about her mother and….Dien, who both recently passed away.
‘We always ate in her kitchen without a window. The room was small and dark. Very intimate, simple. We shared our lives and secrets, intimate feelings and thoughts. We told stories to each other. Time and again. Every week. The stories did not run out. The oldest was the wisest and the sweetest. We knew every meal could be the last. The word ‘galgemaal’ always haunted us’. (2019)
In this period I will start my C19Q20-photostills serie. The studio has a lot of different items in the art-department I can use for making these still lifes. I want to make these stills together with you! How are we going to do this? 1. Send me your ideas, of what you would like for a still life, and I will try to realize this. 2. Add a short description of your story, feeling or emotion you have with this idea. 3. Depending on what’s in stock and fits my style, I’ll make a selection of the input you send. 4. I will make this, or an interpretation of this, in my studio and share ‘the making of’ in my instastories. 5. The final image will be titled with your name and the addition C19Q20. 6. You will receive a fine-art print on A4 of the art work. 6. Hopefully we can meet after this period on an exhibition of our still.
Lets unite, let’s make art together…
#letscreatetogether Your story is still welcome! Send a message @studiojanwillemvanriel
Make soup, not war
A series I wished to start this year, a long running project using interviews and photography to put people together at a ’table’ who would normally not do so. Each person will be interviewed, filmed and photographed alone, telling their story to someone or to the world. These persons will also share their recipes and with who the would like to share there soup to have a good conversation. In the end all interviews will be in an exposition where all images create a long table and all these people are sitting at one table together. And so every person can tell his story to some one they will never have the opportunity to meet. And let all stories be heard.
I would like to meet these people, letting them tell their story, film and photograph them, make a cookbook and an exposition. Hopefully it can be done in the near future.
Wanne tell your story, or know an interesting story or wanne or can help in making this project become real? Im looking forward hearing from you. For now, this still life. Sent me a message in the contact form.
Finding the beauty in everyday life

The beauty of that
FRANK: On may 27th 2009 I died. Today i proudly use this as an excuse to post a pic of my naked torso. Organ donation saves selfies! (and lives).
Are you proud with your body which is not that ‘Instagram-able’. And do you want to participate in this serie, or know someone who would. Who has a story to tell or, in this one, better to show. please sent me a message.

How many jobs are there? At one point I asked the people who came to my studio to bring items related to there jobs. After a while this become very interesting. So I had to think about how to put this in a project. Still not really figured that out, but its interesting to work on. How many jobs will pass by the next year, years, decade, …. Want to participate in this serie, please let me know by sending a message in the contact form.
